About 5,000 Dalits and activists plan to enter a temple in Rajasthan's Bhilwara district today as a mark of defiance against the alleged restriction on the community to worship there. Dalit Adivasi Adhikar Abhiyaan (DAAA) and Mazdoor Kisan Shakti Sangathan are spearheading the movement.

The 5000-strong group, which will enter the Chawanda Mata temple in Sulia village, will include Hajari Bhopa, a Dalit who was allegedly stopped from worshipping there and manhandled by members of Gurjar community on October 1, Bhanwar Meghvanshi, regional coordinator of DAAA, said.

More forcible temple entries like this will soon kick start a nationwide debate. Educated Hindus should come forward and support the dalit movement. Worship places should be thrown open to all practicing Hindus.
