Circumambulation, or simply going around, of deity in the sanctum
sanctorum is an important part of temple visit. But how many times should a
devotee go around Goddess Durga in a temple. Now this is a perplexing question
as there are no written rules. And the number of times people go around varies
from region to region.
But as per majority of pandits, astrologers and pujaris, one
should go around Goddess Durga in a temple only one time.
Only one circumambulation should be made in a Durga Temple
But there are people who do 3 or 5 or 7. This is also
permitted in many regions.
But one should never do 2 or 4 or 6 circumambulation.
