Sri Prasanna Lakshmi Venkataramana Swamy Temple is located at KGF (Kolar Gold Fields), Robertsonpet, Kolar, Karnataka. The shrine is dedicated to Bhagavan Vishnu in Sri Prasanna Lakshmi Venkataramana Swamy form - (Prasanna meaning gracious, pleasant, and benevolent.)
At this temple, Bhagavan Srinivasa stands facing northward (Uttaraabhimukha) — a rare and auspicious form — blessing devotees with prosperity, happiness, fulfillment of desires, and the grace of Vaikuntha darshan.
The deity faces the northern direction, traditionally associated with Kubera, the lord of wealth. Devotees believe that:
- Darshan of the smiling Lord brings:
- Happiness
- Prosperity
- Wealth
- Peace of mind
- Fulfillment of wishes

Temple Legend and Spiritual Significance
Many decades ago, during the British era when the region was famous for gold mining and came to be known as Kolar Gold Fields (KGF), the area suffered from poverty, disease, and hardship.
According to temple history, the village elders received a divine message in a dream from Bhagavan:
“I reside beneath the earth in the village of Swarnakuppam, facing north.
Unearth me, build a temple, and worship me sincerely.
I shall remove the suffering, diseases, and hardships of the people of this region.”
Following this divine instruction, members of the Ganiga, Naidu, and Vaishya communities united together, recovered the deity, and built the temple. Regular worship and rituals were started, and it is believed that prosperity, peace, and wellbeing gradually returned to the region.
The then Maharaja of Mysore, Jayachamarajendra Wadiyar, visited the temple and offered donations to support the continuation of temple rituals and religious activities.
Famous Annual Celebrations
Every year during the Hindu month of Phalguna, the temple celebrates a magnificent Rathotsava (Car Festival), which is considered one of the most prominent temple festivals in Karnataka.
One of the most extraordinary highlights is the Pushpa Pallakki Seva:
- A beautifully decorated floral palanquin weighing nearly 10 tons
- Carried on the shoulders of around 1,000 devotees
- Decorated elaborately with flowers
- Witnessed by thousands of devotees every year
Each festival day attracts massive crowds and devotional celebrations.
