Chikkankanahalli Sri Nandi Basaveshwara Swamy Temple Near Mandya

Sri Nandi Basaveshwara Swamy Temple is located at Chikkanayakanahalli (Chikkankanahalli) near Mandya, Karnataka. The shrine is dedicated to Nandi, the vehicle of Shiva and is essentially a Shaivite center of worship.

 This a historic temple with a legacy of nearly 800 years. It is believed to have been built by the kings of Mysore for the well-being and health of cattle and livestock. The temple’s deity is regarded as a Swayambhu (self-manifested) idol, making it especially sacred among devotees.
