Thiruvonam Ganapathi is observed on the Thiruvonam nakshatra day in Thula masam as per traditional Malayalam calendar followed in Kerala. Thiruvonam Ganapathi 2024 date is November 9. Prayers and rituals are offered to Ganesha on the day for desire fulfillment and for achieving peace and prosperity. Bala Ganapathy or child form of Ganapati is worshipped on the day.
Thiruvonam Ganapathi is more famous in Valluvanad region of
Kerala. Valluvanad comprises of the whole of Perinthalmanna, Mannarkkad and
Ottapalam taluks, and parts of Ponnani, Tirur and Ernad taluks. It extends
from Bharathapuzha (Nila River) in the South to Pandalur mala in the North,
and is bounded by Attapadi mala in the East (Silent Valley) and seacoast at
Ponnani in the West.
The rituals performed on the day is known as Ganapathi Yideel (ഗണപതിയിടീൽ).
This is a small Ganapathi puja performed by young children
especially below the age of 12. It is believed that performing
this ritual will help in them having a good future, good intelligence, and good
married life. There are no mantras or complex pujas. Flowers are offered to
Ganapathi and food offering of Appam and Ada is made. This particular Ada is
made less sweet and is known as Ganapathy Ada.
Apart from Ganesha, prayers are offered on the day to Shiva,
Goddess Parvati and Aditya (Surya Bhagavan).

- തിരുവോണം ഗണപതിയുടെ അന്നു സവിശേഷമായ ചില ആചാരങ്ങൾ വള്ളുവനാടിന്റെ ചില ഭാഗങ്ങളിലുണ്ട്. ഗണപതിയിടീൽ എന്നാണീ ചടങ്ങ് അറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്. പന്ത്രണ്ടു വയസ്സിൽ താഴെയുള്ള കുട്ടികൾ നടത്തുന്ന ഒരു ചെറിയ ഗണപതിയർച്ചന അല്ലെങ്കിൽ ഗണപതി ഹോമമാണിത്.
- മുതിർന്ന സ്ത്രീകളുടെ സഹായത്തോടെ നടത്തുന്ന ഈ ചടങ്ങിൽ മന്ത്രങ്ങളൊന്നും ചൊല്ലാറില്ല. ഗണപതിയെ മനസ്സിൽ ധ്യാനിച്ചു അർച്ചന നടത്തുകയും ഭഗവാന്റെ ഇഷ്‌ട നിവേദ്യങ്ങളായ അപ്പവും അടയും നേദിക്കുന്നതാണ് ഈ ആചാരത്തിന്റെ പ്രത്യേകത. അടയ്ക്കാണ് കൂടുതൽ പ്രാധാന്യം. മധുരം അധികം ചേർക്കാത്ത ഈ അട ഗണപതിയട എന്നാണറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്.
- കുട്ടികളുടെ മുമ്പോട്ടുള്ള ജീവിതത്തിൽ ബുദ്ധിയും സിദ്ധിയും ഉത്തമമായ മംഗല്യയോഗവും ഉണ്ടാകാനാണ് ഈ ഗണപതിയർച്ചന നടത്തുന്നത്.
- കുളിച്ചു ശുദ്ധിയോടെ ആടയാഭരണങ്ങൾ അണിഞ്ഞു ദശപുഷ്‌പം ചൂടി ഐശ്വര്യത്തോടെ വേണം ഈ കർമങ്ങൾ അനുഷ്ഠിക്കേണ്ടത്.
- ഗണപതിയെ കൂടാതെ ശിവപാർവതിമാരെയും ആരാധിക്കുന്നു. അവിൽ, മലർ, ശർക്കര, പൂവൻപഴം തുടങ്ങിയവയും നേദിക്കുന്നു. അതിനു ശേഷം ആദിത്യഭഗവാനു അർച്ചന നടത്തുന്നു. കുടുംബത്തിലെ ബാലന്മാർക്കാണ് ഗണപതിക്കുനേദിച്ച അവിലും മലരും ശർക്കരയും അടയും ആദ്യം നൽകുന്നത്. അതിനു ശേഷം മറ്റുള്ളവർക്കും നൽകുന്നു.
- അശ്വതി, മകം, മൂലം എന്നീ നക്ഷത്രജാതരുടെ ദശാനാഥൻ കേതുവായതിനാൽ കേതുദോഷം അകലാനും ജാതകത്തിൽ കേതുദോഷമുള്ളവരും തുലാമിലെ തിരുവോണ നക്ഷത്രത്തിൽ ഗണേശപൂജകൾ ചെയ്യുന്നത് അത്യുത്തമമാണ്.
- കൂടാതെ തിരുവോണം നക്ഷത്രത്തിൽ പിറന്നവർ ഈ ദിവസം ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ ഗണപതി ഹോമം നടത്തുന്നത് അഭിവൃദ്ധിയും ശ്രേയസ്സും ഉണ്ടാകുന്നു.
