The Rolling Stones were first formed in London in 1962 and became the world's biggest rock band. The popularity of this Goddess Kali's tongue logo reached such a level that in 2008, the Victoria and Albert Museum bought the original artwork for fifty thousand pounds.
Rolling Stones Band logo was inspired by the blood-drinking
tongue of Shyama Maa (Goddess Kali). Blood-red lips, with a protruding red
tongue—this form of Kali, the daughter
of the house, is worshipped during Shyama Puja.
Mick Jagger, the band's main member, had visited Mumbai several years ago. In an interview given to the media at that time, he revealed that his brother had visited India a few years earlier. After his India trip, his brother gave him some books to read. It was in 1969 when he was looking for an extremely catchy logo for his own band, 'The Rolling Stones'.
It was then that Jagger saw a picture of Goddess Kali's
tongue in the book given by his brother. Without delay, he immediately decided
that this blood-red tongue would be the logo for his band, 'The Rolling
Stones'.
Subsequently, the designer 'John Pasche' designed this logo.
