Alappuzha Thiruvampady Sree Krishna Swami Temple – Famous For Vavu Bali

Alappuzha Thiruvampady Sree Krishna Swami temple is located at Thiruvampadi in Alappuzha town, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Bhagavan Sri Krishna. Ashtami Rohini (Sri Krishna Jayanti) is an important festival in the temple. Karkidaka Vavu Bali is observed in the temple. It is a temple which has no upa devatas or subsidiary deities.

The sankalpam of Krishna here is that of Balagopala – child form.

The temple has a traditional Kerala style architecture with a chathura sreekovil. The shrine has a chuttambalam, kodimaram, namaskara mandapam and two big ponds. There are no upa devatas in the temple. The temple has a huge compound with banyan trees.

The main offering in the temple is Pal Payasam.

Bali for dead ancestors can be offered on any day in the temple. Pitru Tarpanam and other rituals associated with the dead are offered in the temple. The popular belief is that Vilwamangalam Swamiyar had offered Bali in the temple.

Morning darshan and puja time is from 6:00 AM to 11:00 AM (time is extended till 12:00 PM on Thursdays).

Evening darshan and puja time is from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM
