Avoly Sri Subrahmanya Swamy Temple

Avoly Sri Subrahmanya Swamy temple is located at Avoly near Muvattupuzha in Ernakulam district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Subrahmanya or Muruga. The Upa Devatas worshipped in the temple are Ganapathi and Sastha. The temple is famous for the annual Thaipooyam festival.

This is a small shrine which retains the basic Kerala style temple architecture. The square sanctum sanctorum has a standing murti of Muruga holding a Vel.

The annual Thaipooyam festival in Makaram month (January – February) is famous for colorful Kavadiyattam. People also arrive on the day carrying simple kavadi for desire fulfillment.

The other important festivals in the temple are Makaravilakku, Vishu, Ramayana Masam, Vinayaka Chaturthi, Skanda Sashti, Mandala Kalam and Thrikarthika. The monthly sashti fasting is also observed in the temple.
