Thuruthyamon Sree Ayiravilli Kirathamoorthy Temple is situated near Porunthamon, Kilimanoor, in Thiruvananthapuram district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Shiva in the Kirata Moorthy form, in which he appeared before Arjuna in the Mahabharata and bestowed the Pashupatastra.
Temple History
According to the findings of the Deva Prashna (astrological and spiritual inquiry), the land of Thuruthyamon was, centuries ago, a resting abode of divine energies, and it was confirmed that this spiritual presence continues to exist there.
It was also revealed that the divine presence of Mahadeva shines in the form of Kirata Moorthy at this place. Based on this realization, it was decided that a proper temple suitable for the deity should be constructed.
Following traditional practices, a Sreekovil (sanctum sanctorum) was built in a style inspired by the Mullappoo Pandal ritual structure, allowing the deity to receive the five natural offerings (Panchopacharas) of nature.
Within this sanctum, Mahadeva was consecrated in the Kirata Moorthy form.
