History Gahmar Maa Kamakhya Devi- Temple Dates Back to the 5th Century Gahmar
This temple is said to have been established nearly in the 5th
century, and was built by the Sikarwar Kshatriya dynasty kings, who considered
Maa Kamakhya their family goddess. However, after the dynasty came to an end,
the temple fell into a state of disrepair. Despite this, the devotion and
religious faith of the devotees never diminished. As a result, over time, worshippers
have repeatedly rebuilt and restored the temple, giving it its current grand
form.
The locals have traditionally considered Maa Kamakhya as
their family deity (Kuld devi).
Wish fulfilling Maa Kamakhya of Gahmar
It is said that wishes made at this sacred place of Maa
Kamakhya, the one who protects from crises and disasters, are never left
unfulfilled. The temple priests say that while the Goddess protects everyone,
the most striking aspect is that even though thousands of people from this
village have served in the army over the years, not one has been martyred.
This centuries-old temple holds a deep place in people’s
faith. It is believed that any wish made with a sincere heart here is
fulfilled. That is why devotees and worshippers from far and wide come to visit
Maa Kamakhya and offer prayers.
