Shri Mahamaya Kali Devi Temple, located near JC Junction in the Banarsidas locality of is situated in the heart of Auraiya, Uttar Pradesh. It is counted among the famous Shaktipeeths (power shrines) of the district.

2026 is from October 11 to October 20. Chaitra Navratri festival 2026 is from
March 19 to March 27.
During Navratri, large crowds gather to offer flags and jaware
(sacred barley shoots). A Bhagwat Katha (spiritual discourse) will be organized
for all nine days during Navratri. Over the nine days, rituals such as mundan
(head-shaving), ear-piercing, and other ceremonies for children are conducted.
Havans (sacred fire rituals) and worship programs are also organized. Saptami,
Ashtami and Navami see maximum crowd at the shrine. Kanya Puja is part of the
Navratri festival here.
During Chaitra and Sharadiya Navratri, community feasts
(bhandaras) are organized, where thousands of devotees receive prasad (blessed
food).
History:
The temple is approximately 100 years old and houses a
captivating idol of the Goddess. With the support of devotees, the temple has
been developed into a grand structure. Now, along with the idol of Goddess
Durga, statues of other deities like Shani, Lord Hanuman, and the Shiva family
have also been installed.
Various rituals like children’s mundan (first head-shaving
ceremony) are also performed at the temple. Devotees believe that any prayers
offered at the feet of the Goddess are fulfilled. People going to court often
bow their heads at the temple before proceeding. Newlywed couples from across
the city make it a point to visit the temple after their marriage to seek
blessings.
