Akash Pradip Mantra – Akashdeep

Here is the mantra to chant while lighting Akash Pradip or Akashdeep in the Kartik Month

1. “Ākāśe salakṣmīk viṣṇostoṣārthaṁ dīyamāne pradīpaḥ śākava tat.”

Hindi Transliteration (Devanāgarī):

आकाशे सलक्ष्मीः विष्णोस्तोषार्थं दीयमाने प्रदीपः साक्षिवत्।

Bengali:

''আকাশে সলক্ষ্মীক বিষ্ণোস্তোষার্থং দীয়মানে প্রদীপঃ শাকব তৎ।''

Meaning (English):

“This lamp (pradīpa), offered for the satisfaction of Lord Viṣṇu along with Goddess Lakṣmī in the sky (ākāśa), stands as a witness (sākṣivat).”

Explanation:
This mantra is recited while offering or lighting a lamp (deepa) to Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi, symbolizing that the flame serves as an eternal witness to one’s devotion and offering to the divine pair.

2. “Nivedya dharmāra harāya bhūmyai dāmodarāyāpyatha dharmarāja, prajāpativhyatvatha satpitṛbhyaḥ pretibhya evātha tamaḥ sthitebhyaḥ.”

Hindi Transliteration (Devanāgarī):

निवेद्य धर्माय हराय भूम्यै दामोदरायाप्यथ धर्मराज, प्रजापतिभ्यश्च तथा पितृभ्यः प्रेतिभ्य एवाथ तमः स्थितेभ्यः।

Bengali:

‘’নিবেদ্য ধৰ্ম্মার হরায় ভূম্যৈ দামোদরায়াপ্যথ ধৰ্ম্মরাজ, প্রজাপতিভ্যত্বথ সৎপিতৃভ্যঃ প্রেতেভ্য এবাথ তমঃ স্থিতেভ্যঃ।‘’ 

Meaning (English):

“Having offered (this) to Dharma, to Hari (Viṣṇu), to Bhūmi (Earth Goddess), to Dāmodara, then to Dharmarāja (Yama), to the Prajāpatis (creators), to the forefathers (Pitṛs), and also to the departed spirits abiding in darkness.”

Explanation:
This mantra is usually chanted during ritual offerings (like Naivedya or Deepa-dāna). It acknowledges and dedicates the offering to various divine and ancestral beings — symbolizing respect and remembrance of all layers of existence: gods, ancestors, and spirits.
