Lehra Devi Mandir, located in Maharajganj district of Uttar Pradesh, holds significant historical and religious importance. The temple is situated near the Adrawan forest along the Pharenda-Bridgemanganj route. The ancient Pavah stream flowing beside the temple also holds special significance. It is believed that bowing at the seat (pidi) of the Goddess here fulfills all wishes.
Maharajganj Lehra Devi Mandir Navratri Festival 2026 is from
October 11 to October 20. Chaitra Navratri festival is from March 19 to March
27.
The Navratri festivals' rituals, especially those on Saptami
(seventh) and Ashtami (eighth) days, are particularly significant, attracting
huge numbers of worshippers. The Kanya Puja on the ninth day, where young girls
are worshipped as symbolic manifestations of the Goddess, attracts thousands of
devotees who break their Navratri fast after giving donations to Kanyas. Navadurgas are worshipped on the nine days of the festival.
Maharajganj Lehra Devi Mandir And Pandavas Of Mahabharata
It is believed that during the Mahabharata era, the Pandavas spent time in this region. It was at a pond near the temple that Yudhishthir answered the questions of a Yaksha and saved the lives of his brothers. The temple is believed to have been established by the Pandavas along with Draupadi.
Chinese traveler Hiuen Tsang (Xuanzang) has also mentioned this
temple in his travelogues.
Eternal Flame Burns 24 Hours
Right next to the main temple is the ancient monastery of
Pauhari Baba, where an eternal flame (Akhand Jyoti) continues to burn 24 hours
a day. On Navratri and every Tuesday, people take sacred ash (Bhabhoot) from
here. Additionally, offerings like coconuts, cloth pieces (chunri), and popped
rice (lava) are taken home as prasad (blessed offerings) from the temple.

Every sincere prayer made at Lehra Devi Temple is fulfilled. As a token of gratitude, people donate clay elephants, bells, and other items once their wishes are fulfilled. Common prasad items include coconuts, chunri (sacred cloth), puffed rice, and sweets like rewari.
