Kannapuram Karankavu temple is located at Kannapuram in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Kurma Avatar of Bhagvan Vishnu, Goddess Muchilottu Bhagavathy and numerous other deities that are popularly worshiped in kavu and other sacred places in the region. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is held for five days in Malayalam Makara Masam – Makaram 20 to Makaram 24 (February 3 to Feb 7).
The main deities are worshipped in two chathura sreekovil – two square sanctum sanctorum. There are other sreekovils for other deities. Some important deities are worshipped atop square platforms and under trees. Vishu is an important festival here. Sankranti in every Malayalam month is of great importance. The shrine has a well maintained temple pond.
The important theyyams that can be witnessed at Kannapuram Karankavu temple are Nagakanya theyyam, Karan theyyam, Muchilottu Bhagavathy theyyam, Puliyoor Kali theyyam and Thai Paradevatha theyyam. Thengayerru is an important ritual during the festival.

കണ്ണാടിയൻ തറവാട്ട് കാരണവരും അനന്തരവൻമാരും അങ്ങ് വടക്ക് നിലയൻ കടവ് എന്ന സ്ഥലത്ത്
വച്ച് ഈശ്വരനെ ദർശിച്ചു. അവിടെവച്ച് കാരണവർ ഭഗവാനെ വെള്ളോല കുടമേൽ ഇരുത്തി കണ്ണപുരത്തേക്ക് യാത്രയായി. വഴി മദ്ധ്യേ മാടായിക്കാവ്
വടക്കുംഭാഗം ആധാരമായി ഭഗവാൻ കൈയ്യെടുത്തു പിന്നീട് അവിടുന്ന് മാടായി കാവിലമ്മയും ഈശ്വരന്റെ ഒപ്പം പോന്നു, യാത്ര തുടർന്നു ചെറുകുന്ന് അമ്പലത്തിൽ എത്തി അവിടെ നിന്നും ഈശ്വരൻ വടക്കേചിറയിൽ നീരാടി ചോയ് അമ്പലം തണലിലിരുന്ന്
അഗ്രശാല മാതാവിന്റെ പാട്ടൂട്ടും മഹോൽസവവും കണ്ടു, ശേഷം കണ്ണപുരത്തെത്തി അരയാൽ
തറയിൽ കയറി ഇരുന്നു.
