Kodikkunnu Bhagavathy temple is located on the Thrithala Valanchery Road at Kodikunnu near Pallipuram Parudur in Palakkad district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathy or Devi. As per Kodikkunnu Bhagavathy temple story, a Tamil region on the banks of Kaveri River faced intense drought and a pious woman of the region had a dream in which Goddess Bhagavathi told her that a person named Agnihotri living in the neighboring Kerala could find a solution to the drought. Agnihotri walked into the Kaveri River and happened to notice a whirlpool in the river and saw river going underground here. To appease Kaveri River, Agnihotri conducted a yajna on the banks near the whirlpool. Later, he entered the whirlpool and disappeared. On the third day, he came out from the whirlpool carrying a trident. This trident was blessed by Lopamudra Devi and she had advised him the place the consecrate the trident. The trident was installed at the spot where the present Kodikkunnu Bhagavathi temple is located.
Goddess Bhagavathi is worshipped in the form of a Bimbam and Trishool.
The Upadevatas worshipped in the temple Mahadeva Shiva, Saptamatrika,
Ganapathi and Kshetrapalaka.
ഒരുക്കൽ
കൊടുങ്ങല്ലൂരമ്മയ്ക്ക് നിത്യപൂജയ്ക്ക് ശാന്തിക്കാരില്ലാതായപ്പോൾ അമ്മ പരാതിയുമായി സഹോദരിയായ
കൊടിക്കുന്നിൽ ഭഗവതിയെ സമീപിച്ചത്രേ. ഒരു നിബന്ധയുണ്ടായിരുന്നു കൊടിക്കുന്നേൽ അമ്മയ്ക്ക്.
തന്റെ ഉണ്ണികളോട് ഒരു കാരണവശാലും കൊടുങ്ങല്ലൂരമ്മ
കോപിക്കരുത്. അതു സമ്മതിച്ചതോടെ. കൊടിക്കുന്ന്
ഭഗവതി തന്റെ ഉണ്ണികളെ കൊടുങ്ങല്ലൂരമ്മയുടെ നിത്യപൂജയ്ക്കയച്ചു. ദേശത്തെ ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിൽ, കൊടുങ്ങല്ലൂരിന് അഭിമുഖമായുള്ള വാതിലുകളും അടച്ചു. അന്നുമുതൽ കണക്കർകാവ്, കൊടിക്കുന്ന് ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിൽ തെക്കേവാതിലിലൂടെ പ്രവേശനം ഇല്ലാതായെന്നാണ് പറയപ്പെടുന്നത്.

ചെമ്പ് ത്രിശൂലം അത്താഴപൂജ സമയത്താണ് തൊഴേണ്ടത്.
കൊടി
എന്ന കുന്നിൻ മുകളിൽ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന ക്ഷേത്രം എന്നതിൽ നിന്നാണത്രേ കൊടിക്കുന്ന് എന്ന പേരുണ്ടായത്.
ത്രിശൂലമായിരുന്നു
ഇവിടുത്തെ ആദ്യ പ്രതിഷ്ഠ. ഇളനീര്
അഭിഷേകമായിരുന്നു പ്രധാന വഴിപാട്.
ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ
പ്രധാന ഉത്സവമാണ് ചിറങ്കര പൂരം. ദുർഗാ ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിലും ചിറക്കര മഹാവിഷ്ണു ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലും (കീഴെക്കാവ് എന്നും അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു) മാത്രമേ ഇത്തരം ഉത്സവങ്ങൾ സാധാരണ നടത്താറുള്ളൂ. വയലുകൾക്കു നടുവിൽ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ, വിളവെടുപ്പിനു ശേഷം കതിരട്ട വേലയും
നടന്നു വരുന്നു.
