Embran Kurikkalum Aipalliyum Theyyam is a very rare theyyam performed during the annual theyyam kaliyattam festival in Kannur and Kasaragod region of Kerala. As per information, the theyyam is dedicated to two people who were alive. Embran Kurikkalum Aipalliyum theyyam story is that of Aipalli, a pulayan, was shot and killed by an army commander, Kolamudi Manna, who was on his way to participate in the Mamaya war. He found Aipalli obstructing his way and thought he was a bad omen. On hearing, Aipalli getting killed, Azhikottarachan Kurikkal arrived on the scene and objected to the killing. He was also shot and killed. The two people later were given the form of theyyam for their sacrifice.
These two theyyams show the bond and friendship beyond the walls of caste.
They theyyams are worshiped for peace and prosperity and to overcome enemies.
