Chooliyar Bhagavathy Theyyam, also known as Shooliyar Bhagavathy theyyam, is a powerful theyyam performed in numerous temples, tharavadu and kavu in Kannur and Kasaragod region of Kerala during the annual theyyam thira and Kaliyattam festival. As per information, the theyyam arrived to protect the granary of the devotees of the region. Chooliyar Bhagavathy theyyam story is that of her appearing from the third eye of Shiva to kill Karthaveeryasuran who was about burn down the granary of Thirikanniyalappan.
Another story has it that of Goddess arriving from Mookambika with an ardent devotee of hers. When she arrived in the area, she was enamored by the beauty of the region and decided to settle down. She appeared in the form of Shila or swayambhu rock in the spot where her ardent devotee was meditating.
It is said that she arrived at the Thrikanneshwaram temple and demand a place in the shrine. Paramashiva took his bow and used a flower arrow to show her spot.
She is the guardian and protector of 96 villages from Pattuvam to Padamboor. She holds a flaming torch in her hand.
She is believed to be the manifestation of Adi Parashakti. She blesses her devotees with peace, prosperity and good health. It is believed that she removes all kinds of ailments and stops contagious diseases. She protects her devotees by going to war against their enemies.

- തൃക്കണ്ണാഡേശ്വരന്റെ സന്നിധാനത്തിൽ എത്തി ഇരിപ്പിടം അവശ്യപെട്ട ദേവിക്ക് പുഷ്പ ബാണം തൊടുത്ത് ഇരിക്കാൻ ഇരിപ്പിടം കൊടുത്ത് പരമേശ്വരൻ എന്നാണ് പുരാവൃത്തം.
