Varanasi Sankat Mochan Hanuman temple on the banks of Assi River was consecrated by Goswami Tulsidas. The food offering or bhog at Sankat Mochan Hanuman temple is prepared traditionally on firewood. The main food offering is at noon and includes rice, dal, roti, subzi and sweets.
The evening food offering is puri, subzi and sweets.
The main sweet offering which is also distributed as Prasad to the devotees includes besan ladoo and lal peda. Banana and fruits are also offered at the temple.
A huge ladoo is offered on Hanuman Jayanti on purnima or full moon day in Chaitra month (April).
