Vendalloor Parambathkavu Temple – Kala Vela Festival

Vendalloor Parambathkavu temple is located at Vendalloor near Valanchery in Malappuram district, Kerala. This ancient temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga Bhagavathi. The annual Kala Vela festival is held in Kumbha Masam. The shrine has a unique opening time. The other deities worshipped in the shrine are Shiva and Vishnu.

The pattu kuriyadal is held on the first day of Meena Masam.

The temple has a chathura sreekovil. The shrine lies on the banks of Bharathapuzha river.

The annual festival in the temple is famous for Kala Varavu – huge figures of twin ox are carried or pulled to the temple on the occasion. The annual festival is also famous for poothan, thira, melam, kalam pattu and other effigies.
