Kondazhi Thritham Thali Shiva Parvathy temple, also known as Thrithamthali Shiva temple, is located at Kondazhy in Thrissur district, Kerala. This is an ancient temple dedicated to Shiva. The annual festival in the temple is held in Kumbha Masam.
The popular belief is that the Shivling worshipped in the temple was consecrated by Parashurama. Thus the temple is one among the 108 Shiva temples in Kerala. This beautiful shrine with a sreekovil, chuttambalam and kodimaram or flag post is located near to the banks of Gayatri puzha (river). The temple has a separate sreekovil for Goddess Parvati.
The Upa Devatas worshipped in the temple are Ganapati, Subrahmanya, Ayyappa or Sastha, Vishnu Bhagavan, Goddess Bhadrakali, Navagrahas, Hanuman, Nagaraja and Nagayakshi (sarpam or nagas) and Brahma Rakshas.
The temple was ransacked and destroyed by Tipu Sultan. The temple was left in ruins for several decades. The temple is now completely renovated.
The annual festival in the temple is famous for pujas and rituals associated with Shiva temple in the region. Ezhunnallathu, melam and fireworks are part of the ritual.
The temple also observes Mahashivratri and Pradosham fasting.
The annual Prathishta dinam in the temple is also held in Kumbha Masam.
Kondazhy Thritham Thali History
പഴയകാലത്ത് (ചേരഭരണകാലം)കേരളത്തെ പതിനെട്ടര തളികളാക്കി വിഭജിച്ച്, ഓരോ തളിയേയും ഓരോ തളിയാതിരിമാരെ ഭരണ ഭാരമേൽപ്പിച്ചു. ഓരോ തളിയുടെ ആസ്ഥാനത്തും ഓരോ പ്രധാന തളിക്ഷേത്രവും (ശിവക്ഷേത്രവും) ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. ഈ പതിനെട്ടര തളികളിൽ അര തളിയുടെ കേന്ദ്രസഥാനം കൊണ്ടാഴിയിലായിരുന്നു. തൃത്തംതളി ശിവക്ഷേത്രം ഈ തളിയിലെ കേന്ദ്രക്ഷേത്രമാണ്. അതിപുരാതനമായ ഈ ശിവക്ഷേത്രം ടിപ്പുവിന്റെ പടയോട്ടകാലത്ത് നശിപ്പിച്ചു. അതിനുശേഷം ഏകദേശം ഇരുനൂറിൽപരം വർഷങ്ങൾ ഈ മഹാക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ അവശിഷ്ടങ്ങളും കരിങ്കല്ലുകൊണ്ടുള്ള മനോഹരമായ കൊത്തളങ്ങളും അങ്ങനെതന്നെ കിടന്നിരുന്നു. അതിനുശേഷമാണ് ഇന്ന് കാണുന്ന രീതിയിൽ ക്ഷേത്രം നിർമ്മിച്ചത്.
