Kizhakkepattom Marappalam Devi Temple Story

Legend has it that there was no temple in the area and farmers used to invite a Goddess from nearby region during harvest period to make offerings. The deity used to return back after the harvest related rituals. But once the murti of Goddess got fixed in the place and it won’t move for some reason. All attempts to lift the murti proved futile. A temple was built where the Goddess wished to reside and the shrine is now famous as Kizhakke Pattom Marappalam Devi temple.

The shrine observes Pongala festival. Other festivals held in the temple include Hanuman Jayanti, Ramayana Masam, Vinayaka Chaturthi in Chinga Masam, Navratri and Thrikarthika.

The annual pratishta festival in the temple is held in Malayalam Mithuna Masam (June - July).
