Visobakhecher And Namdev – God In All Animate And Inanimate

A real life incident involving Visobakhecher and Namdev teaches us that God is in all animate and inanimate. Sant Namdev was one of the pillars of the Bhakti cult that developed around the worship of Bhagwan Vitthal of Pandharpur in  Maharashtra  during the middle ages. Sant Namdev was also a companion of Sant Dnyaneshwar. Sant Namdev used to visit the Bhagwan Vitthal Temple in Pandharpur daily and he was attached to the temple. Sant Dnyaneshwar made fun of this attachment as Sant Namdev believed that Bhagavan was only in the temple. Namdev used to converse with Bhagwan Vitthal daily and he complained to the Lord about other people making fun of him for his attachment. Bhagwan Vitthal then asked Namdev to go to Visobakhecher who lived in a nearby village and receive spiritual teachings. Namdev was not ready to leave as it meant he will not be able to visit the temple for two or three days. Bhagwan Vitthal convinced him to meet Visobakhecher. Namdev reached the vil

Number of Times Arati Should Be Circled For Vishnu – Ganesh – Shiva

While performing pujas and rituals in Hinduism, Arati is a must. The traditional lamp is circled in front of the deity number of times. The general rule is that the lamp should be circled 12 times in front of the Murti of Vishnu. The Arati should be circled 11 times around Shiva, four times around Ganesha, nine times in front of Durga and it is seven times for Surya. This rule is strictly followed by many Hindu communities in North India . There are no strict rules in Hindu tradition, so the number of times the Arati is circled varies from region to region and from community to community. But most people make it a point that at least one time or three times the Arati is circled. In Hinduism, what matters is not rules but devotion. Unwavering devotion can bring about change in life. This aspect is explained through stories in epics, Puranas and other Hindu scriptures.

It Is Much Easier To Worship Bhagavan

It is much easier to worship Bhagavan. No sacrifice, no austerities, no fasts, no vows are required in the worship of the true God. But we are too rajasic. We must always be doing something. We imagine that God is like us, a domineering despot. But that is very wrong. What does Bhagavan care for our asceticism? All he asks for is a little love. That will do. His yoke is light, but we make it heavy. God is not like us. He does not consider the gift, but the giver. Where there is love there He is pleased. Love is the great magnet. When steel is magnetized it is drawn towards the magnet. Love is the magnetizer. Once we are touched by true love, at once we fly towards the magnet, which is Bhagavan Himself. No effort is required; the magnet does it all. But sometimes the iron becomes rusty and then the magnetic power cannot reach the iron on account of the rust. That is when our heart becomes dry and cold and we harbor evil thoughts and intentions. Then God’s love cannot reach us. He is n
