Akka Chamundi theyyam (ആക്കച്ചാമുണ്ഡി തെയ്യം) is a rare theyyam that is presented during the annual theyyam thira and kaliyattam festival in Kasaragod region of Kerala. As per information, Akka Chamundi theyyam is associated with Goddess Shakti and other Mother Goddess worship (Bhagavathy) seen in this part of the region. Akka Chamundi story is that of her helping a devotee to overcome obstacles and achieve peace and success. She is worshipped for attaining wealth and to defeat enemies. She is also propitiated to overcome the spread of infectious diseases.
Akka Chamundi theyyam is performed at Kasargod Chittarikkal Kamballur Kottayil Tharavadu Devasthanam temple.
