Pampady Sri Krishna Temple

Pampady Sri Krishna temple is located at Alampally – Pampady in Kottayam district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Sri Krishna Bhagavan. The annual festival in the temple is held in Dhanu Masam (December – January). This is a traditional Kerala style temple with a sreekovil which faces east. The temple has a nalambalam, namaskara mandapam, and shrines of upa devatas. The shrine observes various festivals associated with Vishnu including Vishu, Ramayana Masam, Niraputhari, Ashtami Rohini, Thiruvonam and Thrikarthika. Special rituals are held during the annual Mandala Makaravilakku kalam. Ekadashi is of great importance in the shrine. Thiruvonam nakshatram and Thursdays are importance in the temple. Sri Krishna Janmashtami is observed with much enthusiasm. Caparisoned elephants, melam and traditional performing art forms of Kerala are part of the annual festival. Vaishnava pujas and rituals, pallivetta and arattu procession are held during the festival.

Adi Kadalayi Sri Krishna Temple – History - Festival

Adi Kadalayi Sri Krishna temple is located at Kadalayi in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Bhagavan Sri Krishna. When Tipu Sultan attacked this place, the murti of Sri Krishna worshipped here was transferred from here to Chirakkal Kadalayi. The temple is located on spot where the Gosala of the original temple was located. The temple has an ornate square sanctum sanctorum. The sankalpam of Sri Krishna here is that of child form – Balakrishna. The Upa Devatas worshipped in the temple include Ganapati, Ayyappa and Bhagavathy. Ramanattukara Vaikundam Vishnu temple is located at Ramanattukara in Kozhikode district, Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Bhagavan Mahavishnu. This is a small but beautiful temple with traditional wooden architecture and use of unique bricks known as vettukallu. The square sanctum sanctorum faces east and has a standing murti of Bhagavan with four hands. There is a namaskara mandapam, chuttambalam and shrines of upa devatas. The sreekovil and the namaskara mandapam is noted for its unique designs on the walls roofs and pillars. Mathura Devi – Woman Saint Of Kashmir – Life History

Mathura Devi Ji is a celebrated Hindu saintly woman of Kashmir. Born in a Kashmiri Brahmin family to Pandita Hari Kaul at Verinag in 1878, she nurtured a quest for the Supreme Truth since her childhood. At the age of 14, she was married to Bhagavandas Kandru of Anantnag. But the marriage lasted for about 3 years only, since her husband passed away in his teens. With all her fervor for the divine, she returned to her parental home at Verinag. Here she started spiritual practice with full fervor under, the guidance of Pandit Sridhara Ju Sarabi of Srinagar. Pandit Shridhar guided his young disciple with great love and care. Lalitpur Patan Narayana Temple – Nepal

Lalitpur Patan Narayana temple is located at the Durbar square in Patan, Nepal. There are two Narayana temples here and the other one is the more famous Char Narayan temple. The shrine is dedicated to Narasimha Avatar of Bhagwan Vishnu. The pagoda style shrine was built in 1652 CE and it is a two-storey structure with two roofs. The main murti worshipped in the temple is that of Narasingha – half-man half-lion form of Vishnu. The murti worshipped in the temple is the ferocious form of Narasimha and it is never taken out. Entry to the sanctum sanctorum is also restricted. The temple is noted for its sculptures especially that of Vishnu bhagavan atop Garuda. The temple has beautiful ornate wooden doors and windows. There are also beautiful sculptures of Hindu gods and goddesses.

Lalitpur Patan Narasingha temple is located at the durbar square in Patan, Nepal. The temple is dedicated to the Narasimha avatar of Bhagwan Vishnu. The shrine was built in 1589 CE. This is a shikhara style temple. The temple is constructed out of brick and there are huge lion sculptures at the entrance of the shrine. There are also other stone sculptures. The main sanctum has an ornate door. Devotees are not allowed inside. There is a standing stone murti of Bhagwan Narasimha. It is believed that a Shivling is also present in the sanctum.
