Abhaya Varadeeswarar Temple at Adirampattinam in Tamil Nadu

Abhaya Varadeeswarar Temple at Adirampattinam in Tamil Nadu is dedicated to Hindu God Shiva. It is located around 12 km from Pattukkottai in Thanjavur District, Tamil Nadu.

Phulpati during Dashain Navratri in Nepal

Phulpati is observed on the Saptami or the seventh day of the Navratri in Nepal. Navratri in Nepal is known as Dashain. It is known as Phulpati as flowers, shrubs and herbs are offered to Goddess Durga on the day. Phulpati in 2017 is on September 27, 2017.

Manyu in Vedas – About Vedic God Manyu

Manyu is a deity in mentioned in the Vedas especially in the Rig Veda. He is a personification of anger or wrath. Two hymns in Rig Veda are exclusively dedicated to Manyu. But in later Vedic texts the deity has lost his relevance and is on of the names of Agni or the fire god.
It is said that he glows like fire. He protects all his devotees and destroys their enemies. He also grants his devotees with wealth and treasure.
He is associated with the thunderbolt too.

Adi Narayana Perumal Temple at Enkan Thiruvarur

Adi Narayana Perumal Temple is located at Enkan near Thiruvaur in Tamil Nadu. The unique aspect of the temple is that murti of Bhagavan Vishnu worshiped in the temple is sitting atop Garuda. Thus, devotees get the opportunity to have Garuda seva darshan daily.

Ghata Sthapana – Kalasha or Earthen Pot Worship during Durga Puja

In traditional Durga Puja, Goddess Durga is worshipped in the form of nine plants (Navapatrika) which is wrapped in a red sari. This is placed in an earthen pot called ‘Purna Ghata.’ This ritual is known as Kalasa Sthapana or Ghata Sthapana. This is also believed to be the oldest ritual associated with Goddess Durga. The Pot is today placed before the idol of the Goddess on a Yantra. The Ghata or pot symbolizes Durga or her creative power and is closely associated with fertility.
The nine plants placed in the Purna Ghata are – plantain, turmeric, barley, bilva or bel, ashoka, pomegranate, paddy, Kachvi and Mana. The nine plants symbolically represent ‘navadurga’ – nine forms of Durga.

The Purna Ghata is usually placed on ‘sarvatobhadra mandalam’ made using rice powder and in its center a lotus with eight petals is drawn. Sarvatobhadra Mandalam is a very popular yantra and it symbolically supports the energy in the Purna Ghata.

Pandava Thoothar Perumal Temple in Kanchipuram – Pandava Tootha Perumal Temple

Pandava Thoothar Perumal Temple, also known as Thirupadagam, is a unique shrine dedicated to Bhagavan Sri Krishna in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu. A 25 feet murti of Lord Krishna is found in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. The shrine is located opposite to the famous Ekambareswarar Temple in Kanchipuram.

Narahari Parvatha Sadashiva Temple Dakshina Kannada in Karnataka

Narahari Parvatha Sadashiva Temple is located atop Narahari Hill in Dakshina Kannada District, Karnataka. Narahari Shiva Temple is about 28 km from Mangalore and is located near Melkar on Bangalore – Mangalore Highway. The shrine is dedicated to Hindu God Shiva and is atop the hill at an altitude of 1000 feet.



Legend has it Nara and Hari forms of Bhagavan Vishnu did penance on the hill. There are ponds on the hill in the shape of Shanka (Conch), Chakra (Wheel), Gada (Mace) and Padma (Lotus). These are important attributes of Vishnu.

One has to climb 333 steps to reach the shrine.

The most important days in the temple are Aadi Amavasya, Sona Amavasya, Shivratri, Nag panchami, Ganesh Chaturthi, Sathyanaraya Pooja held on the day of Brahmakalasha Pratishtashtabandha, and Mondays in the Kartik month.

Kuravi Veerabhadra Swamy Temple at Kuravi near Warangal

KuraviVeerabhadraSwamyTemple is dedicated to Veerabhadra, also known as Veerabhadra Swami, who is one of the Shiva Ganas.
