Kurichy Shankarapuram Mahadeva Temple

Shankarapuram Mahadeva temple is located at Kurichy in Kottayam district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Shiva or Mahadevar. The annual festival in the temple is held in Malayalam Meena Masam (March – April). The shrine is associated with Sri Narayana Guru Devan.

This is a traditional Kerala style temple with a chuttambalam, namaskara mandapam, shrines of upa devatas and kodimaram. The temple has a chathura sreekovil.

The annual festival in the temple is famous for ezhunnallathu, caparisoned elephants, traditional temple art forms, music, traditional dance and melam. The festival begins with kodiyettam and concludes with arattu. Pallivetta, dhara, homam and other Shaiva temple rituals are part of the annual festival.

Fortnightly pradosham and Mondays are important in the temple. The shrine also observes Ramayana Masam, Navratri, Thiruvathira and Thrikarthika.
