Waking Up Prayer in Hindu Religion

There is a very important waking up prayer in Hindu religion which ushers in peace, prosperity and happiness for the entire day. The prayer is कराग्रे वसते लक्ष्मीः करमध्ये सरस्वती । करमूले तु गोविन्दः प्रभाते करदर्शनम ॥ Karagre vasate Lakshmi, karamadhye Saraswati Karamule tu Govinda, Prabhate Karadarshanam  The prayer has to be chanted at looking the palms of hands. Meditate looking at the hands for few minutes after the prayer. Next is to rub the face with the palm three times. Please note that there are two alternatives to the above prayer one in which instead of Govinda it is Gouri who is invoked and in another instead of Govinda it Brahma who is invoked. The Gouri Alternative Prayer कराग्रे वसते लक्ष्मीः करमध्ये सरस्वती । करमूले स्थिता गौरी, मंगलं करदर्शनम् ॥ Karagre vasate Lakshmi, karamadhye Saraswati Karamule sthita Gouri, mangalam Karadarshanam  The Brahma alternative prayer कराग्रे वसते लक्ष्मिः करमध्ये सरस्वति । करमूले स्थितो ब्रह्मा, प्रभाते करदर्शनम् ॥

Power Of Impressions In The Mind

Every thought and action leaves an impression in the mind. According to Swami Vivekananda, the sum total of these impressions determines our character; they account for what we are at any moment, and how we react to people and circumstances. Impressions have the tendency to make us repeat the action or thought that gave rise to them. With every repetition, they become deeper and more powerful. Past actions inevitably come back to haunt us or defend us. Having to experience the effects of all our accumulated actions is certainly a frightening thought. Yet devotees are not intimidated, but strive to strengthen their character by good actions and good thoughts. They are careful not to gather new bad impressions. Placing implicit trust in God's redeeming power; they forge ahead on the path of devotion. By prayer, meditation and work done as worship, they free themselves from the hold of both good and bad impressions, and grow in God-consciousness. Holy Mother Sri Sara
