Adoor Parthasarathy Temple is dedicated to Bhagavan Sri Krishna and is located at Adoor in Pathanamthitta District in Kerala. Adoor Parthasarathy Temple Festival 2025 date is from January 29 to February 7. The annual festival in the temple is held in such a way that the 10-day festival ends with Arattu on the Rohini Nakshatra day in Makaram month.
Adoor Gajamela which is part of the annual festival is held on the concluding day on February 7, 2025.
The annual temple festival is famous for elephant procession and Gajamela (elephant pageantry). Popularly known as Adoor Gajamela, hundreds of people throng to the temple premises to witness this spectacle where in nine caparisoned elephants adorned in traditional Kerala style embellishments offer a unique display with Muthukuda and traditional temple music.
The main highlight of the annual Gajamela is that the elephants get opportunity to compete with each other for the title ‘Gajaraja Pattam’ (King of elephants). Among the nine elephants the one which looks the best and strong is awarded the ‘Gajarajappattam’.
Various famous art forms of Kerala like Kathakali, Ottamthullal, traditional dances, and music performances are staged during the festival.
The subsidiary deities worshipped in the temple are Shiva and Ganapati.
Dashavatara Charthu is held on Vishu day in the temple.
