Bharuch Jagannath Rath Yatra 2024 In Gujarat

Jagannath Rath Yatra held in Ashada month at Bharuch in Gujarat attracts thousands of devotees and is similar to the famous Rath Yatra held on the same day in Puri and Ahmedabad. Jagannath Rath Yatra 2024 at Bharuch is on July 7. Bharuch Jagannath temple is built like the famous Jagannath Temple Puri but smaller in size. All the important deities worshipped in Puri is accommodated in the small but beautiful temple complex. The temple was established in 1997 and the small but highly enthusiastic Rath Yatra was started from the next year. The temple is maintained and the yatra is conducted by Shree Jagannath Seva Samiti, under the management of Utkalika. Death Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda 2024 – Mahasamadhi - Punyatithi of Swami Vivekananda

Death anniversary of Swami Vivekananda is annually observed on July 4. In 2024, it is the 122nd death anniversary of Swami Vivekananda – Punyatithi or Mahasamadhi. He was the messenger who uplifted the dying spirit of Indians. He reminded them of their past glory, and their present wretched condition and what bright future hold for them.  "Arise! Awake! And stop not until the goal is reached." Swami Vivekananda died at an early age of 39 on July 4, 1902. Swami Vivekananda, known in his pre-monastic life as Narendra Nath Datta, revived Vedanta and took it to the world. His mentor and Guru Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa guided him on the spiritual path. After the passing away of Sri Ramakrishna, under the leadership of Swami Vivekananda, disciples of Sri Ramakrishna formed a new monastic brotherhood. Swamiji was not happy with a settled monastic life. He wanted to take the teachings of his Guru to the world. For this, he set out on a discovery of real India.

Importance of Darshan of Bamana during Puri Rath Yatra

It is believed that having darshan of Bamana (Vamana murti) atop the Jagannath chariot will help a devotee achieve liberation from cycle of birth and death. There is a famous quote about the darshan of Bamana during Rath Yatra Rathe tu vamanam drshtiva punarjanmam na vidyate रथे तू वामनं दृष्टिवा पुनर्जन्मम न विद्यते  Each of the three chariots in the Puri Rath Yatra has presiding deities.
