Bhavani Deeksha 2017 dates at Sri Kanaka Durga Temple in Vijayawada

Bhavani Deeksha is an important ritual and fasting observed by women at the famous Vijayawada SriKanakaDurgaTemple in the Kartika and Margashirsha Masam. Bhavani Deeksha 2017 dates are from October 30 and December 9.

It begins on Kartik Shukla Paksha Dasami and ends on Margashsirsh Krishna Paksha Saptami.
During the Bhavani Deeksha the utsava murti of the Goddess worshipped in the temple will be temporarily shifted to the Bhavani Mandapam. Nearly 1 million people will be partaking in the two month long ritual.
Those partaking in the ritual eat simple vegetarian food and lead a simple life.
Those undertaking the ritual wear red dress and take Irumudi to the temple while performing the ritual.
People take bath in the KrishnaRiver and visit the temple to have darshan of Goddess.
Men and Women partake in the ritual.
Bhavani Deeksha is taken 41 days or 21 days. Women observe it for 21 days after or before the menstrual cycle.
