Do Gods Really Eat Food Or Bhog In Hindu Religion?

Food – Bhog, Naivedya or Prasad – is an important offering in Hindu religion. Many skeptics ask do gods really eat food. Yes, God really eats food. What is the proof? For a religious person, the proof is his/her experience and scriptures. Sri Krishna has clearly stated in the Bhagavad Gita that He partakes anything that is offered with devotion. It is not the food item that matters but the devotion and love of God. Lord Vitthal of Pandarpur used to come to eat the food offered by Sant Namdev. There are numerous such examples in Hinduism where Bhagavan takes numerous forms to eat what the devotee has offered. He who offers to me with devotion a leaf, a flower, a fruit, or water, that gift of love I accept as an offering of the pure of heart. (Gita Chapter 9 verse 26) Whatever you do, whatever you eat, whatever you offer, whatever you give away, whatever austerities thou do practice, let it all be done, O Arjuna, as an offering to me. (Gita Chapter 9 verse 27) Our body is made of fi

Navratri Thoughts From Hindu Blog

Navratri is an opportunity for us to remove the demons of ego, anger, jealousy, greed and whole lot of negative emotions from us with the help of Mother Goddess Durga. The demons that Goddess Durga appeared to slay are present in all of us in one form or another. Apart from the above mentioned demons, lack of energy, fear, surrendering to disappointments, depression and failures are enemies that we pamper. Mother Durga provides us with the opportunity to eliminate all sort of negativity in our life. She provides the energy but are we ready to receive the energy. She is ready to slay the demons of fear, anger, frustration, jealousy and greed. But are we ready to surrender them before her. Quite often instead of praying to remove the darkness in us, we pray for fulfillment of our desires. Each desire fulfilled unknowingly adds to the darkness. Our desires never end and thus we are never able to receive the light provided by Mother Goddess. Use this Navratri to contemplate.
