Pazhoor Shiva Temple History - Festival – Upa Devatas In Pazhoor Perumthrikkovil Temple

 Pazhoor Perumthrikkovil temple is located around 2 km from Piravom town in Ernakulam district in Kerala. Pazhoor Shiva temple lies on the banks of Muvattupuzha aru. The six-day festival ends on the Shivratri day with Arattu in Kumbham month. Pazhoor Perumthrikkovil is one among the 108 Shiva temples in Kerala. River flows on three sides of the temple except south. The Shivling in the temple is made of mud. The deity faces east. The sreekovil or sanctum sanctorum is round and big. There is also sheeveli. The Upa Devatas worshipped in the temple are Sastha, Sri Krishna, Ganapathy and Nagaraja. The temple is noted for its wall paintings and sculptures. The temple is associated (uranma) with Melpazhoor Illam, the home of Aryamba, mother of Adi Shankaracharya. A massive robbery took place in the temple on August 11, 2009. Triprangode Siva Temple - Festival

Triprangode Siva Temple is ancient shrine located at Triprangode Village in Malappuram District in Kerala. The main festival in the temple is Mahashivratri. The temple is located around 8 km from Tirur Railway Station and around 5 km from Thirunavaya. The annual pratishta festival in the temple is held in Malayalam Mithuna Masam (June - July). Legend has it that Sage Markandeya was saved from the clutches of Yama, the Hindu god death, by Shiva here. ( you can read the complete legend here ). The sanctum sanctorum here is two storied and is known as Gaja Prishta kovil - like the back side of an elephant. Shiva faces west. He is worshipped in the form of Shivling which is swayambhu. It is believed that Shiva killed Yama by taking seven steps here. There is a pratishta or murti in each step. Monthly Karthigai Viratham is observed when Karthigai Nakshatra (birth star) fall in a month. It is dedicated to Muruga. Below is the Krithigai Vratham dates in 2021 dates.
