Ethanur Maruti Bhagavati Temple History Festival

Ethanur Maruti Bhagavati Temple is located at Ethanur village on Koduvayur – Alathur road in Palakkad district, Kerala. The main festival in the temple is observed for seven days starting with the second Thursday in Meenam month.  

The main deities worshipped in the temple are Goddess Durga and Goddess Bhadrakali. Both the deities are worshipped in the same sreekovil.

It is believed that Goddess Bhadrakali in the temple is linked to Kodungallur Bhagavathy.

The name Maruthi for the deity because Goddess Durga in the temple is believed to have arrived here from Madurai. Five sisters who arrived from Madurai to the region are known as five muthis.

Both the murtis in the temple were earlier made of mud. They were replaced with stone in 1966 CE.
