Puthukad Kurumalikavu Bhagavathi Temple - Information - Gods Worshipped - Festival

Kurumalikavu Bhagavathi temple is located in Puthukad Village on the Thrissur – Chalakudy road near Pudukad center in Thrissur district, Kerala.  The annual temple festival is observed on Bharani nakshatra in Kumbham month. Kuruti and Chanthattam are observed on Makara Chowa (January third week Tuesday). The temple is dedicated to Goddess Bhadrakali and is on the banks of Kurumali Puzha. It is believed that the Goddess in the temple is the sister of Kodungallur Bhagavathy. The murti in the temple is carved out of wood (Dharu Vigraham) and is nearly 6 feet tall. The deity faces east. The Upa Devatas in the temple are Rakshas, Dambati,  Brahma Rakshas and Pattaliswami (Marvancheri Pattali). In olden times the temple used to take Sankadapara to house of those people who had small pox or other poxes.

Kurumakkavu Temple is located on Wadakkanchery – Kunnamkulam road around 3 km from Ottupura. The annual festival in the temple is observed on Kumbha Sankramanam. The main deity worshipped in the temple is Goddess Bhadrakali. It is believed that Goddess is Mookambika Devi. The Prathishta is kannadishila and the deity faces east. There is a pond in front of the temple. The priest of the shrine is Paradeshi Brahmanan. The temple originally belonged to two families Kottaram and Panikathu. Later it was given to Avanamparambumana by the Kochi king.

Story of Sage Narada getting face of monkey for a swayamvara is part of Shri Ramcharitmanas written by Goswami Tulsidas. Once Shiva blessed Sage Narada to perform intense meditation in Tapovan and that no one would be able to disturb him. The meditation of Sage Narada became a concern for the ever insecure Indra, the king of Devas. He thought that after successful completion of the mediation, Sage Narada might become the king of Devas. Thayineri Sree Kurinji temple is located near Payyanur, Kannur district, Kerala. Thayineri Sree Kurinji Temple Theyyam festival attracts scores of devotees. The annual festival in the temple is observed from Makaram 27 to 29 (February 10 to February 13). The pyre (Thee kundam) called Meleri which is lit inside the walls of the temple during the 3-day Theyyam adds to the uniqueness of the festival. The main theyyams performed in the temple are Kundor Chamundi, Kurathi theyyam, Puliyoor Kali theyyam, Poomaruthan, Madayil Chamundi, Raktha Chamundi, Vishnumoorthy theyyam, Ottakolam and Puthiya Bhagavathi.  The main deity worshipped in the temple is Poomala Bhagavathi. Legend has it that the family-head of Punnakkan joint family brought a Kurinji sapling imbued with the divine spirit and implanted it at the spot which later became the temple. Kurichithanam Poothrukkovil Sree Krishna temple is located on the Kurichithanam - Kudakkachira road near Uzhavoor in Kottayam district, Kerala. The 8-day festival in the temple is observed in such a manner that Pallivetta is held on the previous day of Guruvayoor Ekadashi. Ekadashi Vilakku is observed on the Guruvayoor Ekadashi day. A special payasam made out of wheat and green payar is served on the day to Ekadashi day. The festival in the temple only ends the day after Arattu. This symbolically hints that there is festival on all days of the year in the temple.  Kuzhoor Sree Subramanya Swamy temple is located on the Mala – Eravathoor road in Thrissur district, Kerala. The 8-day annual festival is observed in such a way that ends with Arattu on the Karthika nakshatra day in Vrischikam month. The most important day during the festival is the ‘Ekadasi Vilakku’ on the 6th day of the festival – famous for Ekadashi melam. Seeveli featuring fifteen elephants, Panchari Melam, Jhamba Melam, Panchavadyam, Kudamattam etc are part of the festival. Panchavadyam are held on the fourth, fifth and sixth day of the festival. Ayyampilly Mahadeva temple is located near Kuzhuppilly on the Vyppin – Munambam Road in Ernakulam district. The 8-day annual festival in the temple is observed in such a way that it ends on vavu or amavasya day after Shivratri. The main deity worshipped in the temple is Shiva. The deity faces east. The Upa Devatas worshipped in the temple are Goddess Parvati, Ganapathy, Ayyappa and Nagayakshi. Ayyappa has importance among the Upa Devatas. Eruva Sreekrishna Swamy Temple Festival – History

Eruva Sree Krishna Swamy temple is located around 2 km north of Kayamkulam at Pathiyoor Village in Alappuzha district, Kerala. The 10-day annual festival in the temple is observed in such a manner that it begins on Rohini nakshatra in Makaram month. The shrine is dedicated to Sri Krishna who faces west. Purification of body, mind and intellect with holy water with sanctified water is known as Udakashanti. Water gets purified when Vedic hymns are chanted over it. Having a mind filled with positive and good thoughts helps in overcoming daily life obstacles. First, you need to know that you are not the mind. You can be the observer. The mind should be seen as an object that can be observed. The chain of thoughts that appear in the mind should be closely observed.
