Chethallur Panamkurrissi Bhagavathy Temple - History - Pooram Festival

Chethallur Panamkurrissi Bhagavathy temple is located at Chethaloor at Thachanattukara village near Mannarkkad in Palakkad district, Kerala. The main festival begins in Pooram Purappadu on Makayiram Nakshatra in Meenam month. Seven days after Makayiram the Pooram festival is held. The pooram festival in the temple is very famous and involves the participation of nearly 40 caparisoned elephant and procession. Thalappoli in the temple is observed on the Tuesday before Makayiram Purappadu. Pattu Agosham is another important event here. Kalampattu is observed for six months in a year. The main deity worshipped in the temple is Goddess Bhadrakali. The wooden vigraha of goddess is 6 feet tall and faces north. The Saptamatrikas are also worshipped in the sanctum sanctorum.
