What is the meaning of Alpa Dwadashi?

Alpa Dwadashi is usually used in Hindu Panchangams to refer to a short period of Dwadashi. As per Hindu calendar and Panchang, Dwadasi is the twelfth day during a lunar fortnight in a Hindu calendar. Those who had observed fast on the Ekadasi (11th day) break the fast on Dwadashi. When there is an Alpa Dwadashi those who had observed Ekadasi fasting should complete their meal before the short Dwadasi period ends. The tithi is usually avoided for auspicious events like buying, moving into new house etc by some communities.
