Ashmanvati River In Vedas

Ashmanvati River has been mentioned along with Apaya and Saraswati on the banks of which the Bharatas kindled the sacred fire. Rig Veda (X 53.8) mentions about Ashmanvati River. The meaning of the name of the river is ‘stony’ or ‘full of stones.’ Some scholars believe that Ashmanvati River and Drishadvati River mentioned in Rig veda III.23-4 represent one and the same river. Ashmanvati River has variously been identified with Ghaggar, Chautang, Rakshi, Yamuna, Ganga etc. Brahmanas and Sratuasutras refer to long Darshadvata sacrificial sessions which terminated after a bath in the Yamuna at Triplaksha, clearly indicating that the upper course of the Ashmanvati River flowed quite close to the Yamuna. Perunguzhi Vishnu Temple – History – Timings

Perunguzhi Vishnu temple, also known as Valiya Thoppil Mahavishnu temple, is located at Perunguzhi near Veiloor in Thiruvananthapuram district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Bhagwan Vishnu. The temple is located near a sacred grove. It is said that the grove was so dense in earlier times that people used to find it hard to live nearby. Puthenkulam Plavila Bhadrakali Temple

Puthenkulam Plavila Bhadrakali temple is located on the Paravur - Parippally Road at Puthenkulam in Kollam district, Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Bhadrakali. The annual festival in the temple is held in Malayalam Kumbha Masam (February – March). The temple has a two tier chathura sreekovil with a two roofs. There are shrines of upa devatas here. Thrissur Manikandanal Temple

Thrissur Manikandanal temple is located in the Thekkinkadu Maidanam or Vadakkumnathan Temple Ground in Thrissur, Kerala. There are two temples here one dedicated to Ganapathi or Ganesha and another dedicated to Subrahmanya or Murugan. The annual Thaipooyam festival in Makara Masam (January – February) and Vinayaka Chaturthi festival in Chingamasam (August – September) are observed here. This is a rectangular temple with two temples on adjacent sides. The deities face east. Ganapati is in sitting posture and Muruga is in standing posture. Mallinatha Suri – Ancient Hindu Commentator

Mallinatha Suri is a well known commentator on the epics in Hinduism and on the works of Kalidasa especially on Khandakavya.
