Tekdi Ganpati Yatra – Nagpur Tekdi Ganesh Temple

Tekdi Ganapati Yatra is observed in the famous Tekdi Ganesh Temple in Nagpur . Tekdi Ganapati Yatra 2025 date is January 17. It is observed on the Sankashti Chaturthi day in the Paush month as per traditional Marathi lunar calendar followed in Maharashtra . Another important festival here is observed during Ganesh Chaturthi in Bhadrapad month. The murti of Lord Ganesh worshipped here is Swayambhu – one that occurred naturally. The temple is called Tekdi as the mandir is constructed atop a mountain and in Marathi language Tekdi means hill. The Tekdi Ganapati Temple is located near the Nagpur Railway Station.

The annual Rath Yatra at the famous Banashankari Temple in Badami in Karnataka is observed on the Paush Purnima day as per traditional Hindu calendar followed in Karnataka. In 2025, Rath Yatra at Banashankari Temple in Badami is on January 13.  Banashankari Temple is dedicated to Goddess Shakti and the Rath Yatra attracts thousands of devotees from Karnataka and Maharashtra . Goddess Banashankari is an incarnation of Goddess Parvati and is believed to have appeared to annihilate Demon Durgamasur. Bana, or Vana, means forest and Shankari means consort of Shiva. The Banashankari Temple in ancient time used to be located near a dense forest. On the Rath Yatra day, Goddess Banashankari is taken around the streets near the temple. Devotees pull the temple chariot and this pulling is believed to be highly meritorious. A huge fair of local produce and crafts is also held during the period.

Thyagaraja Aradhana 2025 date – Thiruvaiyaru Thyagaraja Aradhana Music Festival in 2025

Thyagaraja Aradhana, dedicated to Saint Thyagaraja, the greatest saint composer of Carnatic music, is observed in Paush month. Thyagaraja Aradhana 2025 date is January 14 to January 19 . The music festival is held during this period for five days. The festival is held at Thiruvaiyaru near Thanjavur in Tamil Nadu and is also therefore known as Thiruvaiyaru Thyagaraja Aradhana. The festival is observed on the fifth day during the  Krishna  paksha or waning phase of moon in the Telugu month of Paush or Pushya.
