Edappazhassi Koottakkavu temple is located at Edappazhassi near Sivapuram in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathy, Vishnumoorthi and numerous other deities that are popularly worshiped in kavu and tharavadu in the region. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is held for two days in Malayalam Makara Masam – Makaram 27 to Makaram 29 (February 10 to February 12).
The main deity is worshipped in a chathura sreekovil –
square sanctum sanctorum. There are other sreekovils for other deities. Some
important deities are worshipped atop square platforms and under trees. Vishu
is an important festival here. Sankranti in every Malayalam month is of great
importance.

Koottakkavu temple are Elladath Bhagavathy theyyam, Karanavar theyyam,
Khandakarnan theyyam, Sasthappan theyyam, Thekkan Gulikan theyyam, Vasoorimala
theyyam and Vishnumoorthi theyyam.
