Guruvayur Parthasarathy Temple – Festival

Guruvayur Parthasarathy temple is located at Guruvayur in Thrissur district, Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Bhagavan Sri Krishna in his Parthasarathy form (charioteer of Arjuna). Adi Shankaracharya jayanti is an important day in the temple. There is a procession from the shrine to Guruvayur Sri Krishna temple on the Guruvayur Ekadashi day. The popular belief is that Sri Krishna gave darshan to Adi Shankaracharya and Sage Narada at the spot where the sanctum sanctorum of Guruvayur Parthasarathy temple is located. The murti worshipped in the temple was retrieved from Ganga River by Adi Shankaracharya on the direction of Bhagavan Sri Krishna. There is also a belief that the murti in the temple was worshipped by Kunti Devi, mother of Pandavas during the Dwapara Yuga. Role And Importance Of Hindu Stories In Spirituality
