Thiruvannur Sree Krishna Temple - About - Sarpabali - Sree Krishnapuram Temple

Thiruvannur Sree Krishna temple is located at Thiruvannur in Kozhikode district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Bhagavan Sri Krishna. The temple is famous for Sarpabali held in Kumbha Masam. The temple is also famous as Thiruvannur Sreekrishnapuram temple. Special rituals, pujas and lighting of lamps are held on Makaravilakku day in the temple. The next important festival is the Ashtami Rohini in Chinga Masam (August – September). The main offering in the temple are venna or butter and payasam. The small shrine is a typical example of Kerala style temple architecture. The shrine has an equally famous Naga worship - Nagaru Kavu or Sarpa Kavu with murtis of Nagaraja, Nagayakshi and other serpent deities. Vishu Kani darshanam on Vishu day in Medam 1 is of great importance in the shrine. The annual pratishta festival in the temple is held in Malayalam Mithuna Masam (June - July).
