Narveer Umaji Naik Punyatithi is annually observed in Paush
month. It is the death anniversary of Narvir Umaji Naik who fought against the
British. He is one of the earliest freedom fighters. Narveer Umaji Naik Punyatithi

Narveer Umaji Naik (September 7, 1791 – February 3, 1832)
raised a small but highly effective army against the British after the fall of
the Maratha Empire.
He exhorted the citizens to fight against the foreign rule. He attempted to unsettle the British occupation and did succeed instilling fear among the British ranks.
To capture him, the British Government announced a bounty of Rupees 10,000.
