Pataleshwara Temple at Talakad – Shivling Worshipped Here Changes Color

PataleshwaraTemple at Talakad in Karnataka is one of the Panchalinga Temples. The unique feature of the Shivling worshipped in the temple is that it changes color three times a day.

The Shivling is red in color in the morning; black in the afternoon and white in the evening.
PataleshwaraTemple is also known as VasukishwaraTemple.
It is widely believed that Snake Vasuki worshipped Shiva at the temple.

Today – June 29, 2014 – is Puri Rath Yatra

Today – June 29, 2014 – is Puri Jagannath Rath Yatra. Rath Yatra, the world famous chariot festival, at the PuriJagannathTemple is celebrated on the second day of the bright fortnight of the Hindu month of Ashadha. On this day, chariots (Ratha) carrying Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra will be pulled to the GundichaTemple, here the deities visit their aunt.
At PuriJagannathTemple, Lord Krishna is worshipped as ‘Jagannath’ – ‘master of the universe.’ Balabhadra is the elder brother of Lord Krishna and Subhadra is his younger sister.
On this day, thousands of people will pull the three huge chariots carrying Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra through the grand road (Bada Danda) to the GundichaTemple.
After the week-long stay, the three deities return and the journey is known as Bahuda Yatra.
