Ekakshi Nariyal – Rare Coconut with only Two Eyes on Top

Ekakshi Nariyal is a unique coconut with only two dots or two eyes atop instead of the three dots. It is believed that Goddess Lakshmi and Hindu God Vishnu reside in Ekakshi Nariyal. Such coconut is very rare to find and if found and kept at home is believed to usher in prosperity and peace.

Usually, coconut has three eyes – three black dots on top of it. But sometimes coconuts have only two eyes. These coconuts are small in size and are known as Ekakshi Nariyal in Hindu tradition.

They are wrapped in a red cloth and kept in the puja room or the space used to worship. They are also offered pujas daily along with deities installed at home.

Some astrologers are of the view that presence Ekakshi Nariyal will help in increase of wealth.

Story of Shami Tree and Agni

Shami Tree is worshipped in Hinduism and it is believed that Agni, the god of fire, stayed in the tree after the curse by Sage Bhrigu. The sacredness of Shami Tree is due to Agni hiding in the tree.

Legend has is that Agni was cursed by Sage Bhrigu for providing wrong information regarding his marriage with Puloma.
Agni then hid underground to escape from the curse.
During this period, Devas lost heaven to demons. Only a son born from Shiva could defeat the demons.  For this Devas need the help of Agni.
But they could not locate Agni has he was missing. Finally Devas found Agni hiding in the Shami Tree. He helped Devas in the birth of Lord Kartikeya.

Fear, doubt, confusion and frustration are problems that we face when we want to be one with God. Being one with God means self realization – that all animate and inanimate is Supreme Truth. Fear, doubt, confusion and frustration are problems we create out of ignorance. As we are the creators of them we should find ways to destroy them.
