Sabarimala Temple July 2017 Monthly Puja Dates

In July 2017, SabarimalaAyyappaTemple will open on July 16 and will close on July 21 for Malayalam Karkidaka Masa Puja. The Niraputhari Ritual will also be held on a particular date in Karkidakam Month by TravancorePalace. SabarimalaAyyappaTemple in Kerala opens on the first day of every Malayalam month and the shrine remains open for the next five days for the monthly poojas including Padi puja. Thousands of Ayyappa devotees make use of this opportunity to visit the Sabarimala shrine to have a hassle free darshan.

Laksharchana, Udayasthamana pooja, padi pooja and pushpabhishekam are performed during the monthly puja.

The main pilgrimage season at Sabarimala shrine is during the Mandala Makaravilakku season (November – January). The period sees heavy rush of devotees to the hill shrine.

Gopadma Vratam 2017 – Go Padma Vrata

Gopadma Vratam as the name indicates is the worship of cows during the Chatur Mas period. Gopadma Vratam 2017 begins on July 4 and ends on October 31. Go Padma Vrata begins on Deva Shayani Ekadasi in Ashada Month and ends on the day after Uttahna Ekadasi in Kartik Month.

During the period of Chaturmas, cattle sheds are thoroughly cleaned and decorated with kolams (Rangoli). After thoroughly cleaning the cattle, they are given Prasad and are worshipped along with Lord Vishnu.
