Mayuranda Rasa Naya – Analogy Used In Hindu Philosophy

Mayuranda Rasa Naya is an analogy used in Hindu philosophy to show that the seed contains the whole. Nayas are principles derived from nature or experience and like proverbs and idioms, are quoted to convey a point effectively. Hamsa kshira naya, kukkuta anda naya and bija vriksha nyaya are among such nyayas. In Hamsa kshira naya, the mythological nature of a swan separating the milk from water is indicated. The later ones refer to the intraceability of the cause like the seed from a tree and that from a seed and in this way the process continuing ad infinitum. The grammarian Bhartrhari uses mayuranda rasa nyaya on the analogy of the fluid inside the egg of a peahen, which contains in a subtle form the whole peacock: the chromosomes with various genes contain all that is needed for the evolution of the living body in all its variety. The fluid inside the egg of a peahen contains in a subtle form the full peacock with its beautiful limbs and wings. Bhartrhari uses mayuranda rasa n

Shiva Shakti Symbolism And Concept In Hinduism

Shiva Shakti concept in Hinduism is the two aspects of Absolute Reality and has deep symbolism. Paramashiva is pure, intelligence, real, limitless, and infinite from the transcendental point of view. Empirically, he is omniscient and omnipotent, the creator, sustainer, and destroyer of this universe. In this transcendental aspect he is known as Shiva. He is Shakti when contemplated upon in the immanent aspect of his divine activities of creation, preservation, and absorption of all phenomena and oblivion, and revelation of his nature of purity and divinity. The duality involved in the admission of Shiva and Shakti is due to the analytical approach of the mind. Shakti is identical with Shiva, as salt is with sea water. Like prakasha and vimarsha, Shiva and Shakti are essentially inseparable. Shiva is pure light without awareness. Shiva is also not conscious of himself without Shakti. Devoid of Shakti, Shiva would be jada (insentient) and, consequently, as good as Shava (dead body). Sh

Padartha In Hindu Philosophy

Padartha in Hindu philosophy literally means the meaning of a word. A padartha is an object which can be thought (artha) and named (pada). Everything which exists and everything which is experienced, whether in the external world or in the mind, is padartha. The concept of padartha or category is the most significant philosophy put forth by the Vaisesika School of Indian philosophy. The categories (padartha) attempt a complete analysis of the objects of knowledge. For Prasastapada, the padarthas are the most comprehensive units of enumeration, the ultimate divisions of reality, and the most basic correlate of thought and speech. The classical version of this list of categories is found in Padartha Dharma-Sangraha of Prasastapada. They are dravya (substance), guna (quality), karma (action), samanya (generality), visesa (particularity), samavaya (inherence) and abhava (non-being). Some of the laws and injunctions were as follows: Men should help women engage in suitable pursuits. The father protects a girl during her childhood, the husband protects her during her youth and her sons protect her during her old age. Love and mercy are ultimately more powerful than hatred and cruelty. Dharma will conquer adharma, truth will conquer falsehood; the power behind death, disease and sin will be overthrown by the reality which is Being, Intelligence and Bliss.
