Today – March 16, 2014 – is Holika Dahan of Holi Festival

Today, March 16, 2014 is the first day of the Holi festival when bonfires are lit in memory of young Prahlad’s victory over demon Holika. The day is known as Holika Dahan. In some regions, people burn old and worthless things in the evening. In other regions, fire is lit in the evening using wood pieces. This burning symbolically clears all the grudges and dirt of the past and ushers in hope of a good future.
Good time for performing Holika Dahan is from sunset to 10:27 PM on March 16.
