Saubhagya Karana Vrata – How to observe Saubhagya Karana Vrat?

Saubhagya Karana Vrata is dedicated to Goddess Parvati. The Goddess Gauri manifestation of Maa Parvati is worshipped on the day. The Vrat is observed on the third day during the waxing phase of moon in Vaishakh, Bhadrapad and Magh Month. In 2018, the dates are on April 18 and September 12. The Vrat on Magh Month is on January 20, 2018. Detail procedure of how to observe the vrat is given below:
Saubhagya Karana Vrata is observed for getting a good husband or wife.
The method of fasting involves fast from sunrise to next day sunrise.
Salt is completely avoided.
Picture or Murti (Idol) of Goddess Gauri sitting on a bull is worshipped on the day.
White flowers, fragrance and Chandan are offered to Goddess Gauri on the day.
The vrat is complete when the person performing Vrat offers food to poor children or old poor people.

Jaya Nama Samvatsara begins on March 31, 2014 – Jayanama Year 1936

Jaya Nama Samvatsara is the name of the Hindu lunar year which is from March 31, 2014 to March 20, 2015. Jayanama is followed in calendars and Panchangams used in Maharashtra, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. In Marathi, Kannada and Telugu Calendars the Shalivahan Saka Year 1936 begins on March 31, 2014.
Note - the current year in Tamil Nadu which begins on Chithirai 1 (April 14, 2014) is also known as Jaya.
The first day of a particular year is referred as Ugadi orYugadi in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. It is referred as Gudi Padwa in Maharashtra.
Jaya Nama is the Sanskrit name of the current year. There are sixty years in a cycle. The present is Jaya Nama and is followed by Manmatha Nama. The previous year was Vijayanama.
Each year has lot of specialties and these are mentioned in the respective Panchangas. The predictions – whether Jaya Nama is good or bad – is mentioned during the Panchanga Sravana which takes place on the Ugadi day.

The soul, who is seer of the world, is never known apart from his spectacle, the world. There is no soul in the state of deep sleep. Hence, like his spectacle [the world], he also is only a mental creation.
The soul is always known along with the body. Even when the body dies, one does not leave it without taking hold of another body.
Since thus the soul is not separable from the body, he is only part and parcel of the world. But unenlightened men, who are disciples of unenlightened gurus, ascribe immortality to this same [mythical] person.
Assuming, without enquiry, that this soul is the owner of the body and the real Self, they ascribe to that Self the qualities of worldliness and all else, which pertain only to this soul.
From this error arises various creeds concerning the real Self, which transcends all the creeds. Believing it to be bound, they follow various paths of yoga to free it from bondage!
