Madhuka Tritiya Vrat Dedicated to Goddess Gauri form of Parvati

Madhuka Tritiya Vrat is dedicated to Goddess Parvati (Gauri) and Shiva. The Vrat is observed on the Shukla Paksha Tritiya day (third day during the waxing phase of moon) in the month of Phalgun, Chaitra, Vaishakh, Bhadrapada and Magha. The Vrat is observed for getting good wife or husband. The image of Goddess Gauri sitting on a bull is worshipped on the day. White flowers, fragrance and Chandan are offered to Goddess Gauri on the day. The vrat is complete when the person performing Vrat offers food to poor children or elderly people – food donation or Annadanam. In some regions, Madhuka Tree is also offered worship on the day. Salt is completely forbidden on the fasting day.
