Chinnamasta Jayanti

Chinnamasta Jayanti is believed to be the day Goddess Chinnamasta appeared on earth to restore Dharma and protect her devotees. Chinnmasta Jayanti 2018 date is April 28. It is observed on the Chaturdashi (14th day) during the Shukla Paksha of Vaishakha month by some Hindu communities. Please note that the day is also observed as Narasimha Jayanti by Vishnu devotees.

Chinnamasta is the sixth Goddess in the Dasamaha Vidya or the ten mother goddesses. She is an incarnation of Goddess Shakti.

A popular image of Goddess Chinnmasta is that of her offering her own head as food to one of her devotees. Legend has it that once Goddess Parvati went to take bathe and her attendants, Jaya and Vijaya, to guard her. Goddess Parvati was so much engrossed in her bath that she lost count of time. After sometime Jaya and Vijaya kept demanding for food and the merciful Goddess offered herself as food.

Chinnamasta is associated with the Veena and the NavagrahaRahu.

Osho Thoughts on Future Religion

The future religion will not be of ritual. There will not be much worshipping but there will be much celebration. And, in fact, to celebrate is the only real worship. There will be much singing and dancing, but not offered to any God in particular, just offered to existence itself. A pouring of the heart, a communion of the heart. Dance itself is enough, it need not be for somebody. The song in itself is enough, it need not be addressed. The prayer in itself is enough, it need not be done in a temple, church or mosque. In fact, it need not be done at all, just a prayerful heart is enough. And it will be a religion that will not be confined by any doctrine, any dogma — a religion which will not supply a philosophy but will certainly give you the vision of a different dimension of reality.
